Weaving, Spinning – How fiber is rooted in the myths around the globe

There is a long history of fiber, spinning, and weaving in our short amount of humanity on this earth. Not only has it been used to create clothing, ropes, and nets, it has beautified our walls, become covers for our windows, upholstery for our furniture, keeps us cozy at night indoors and out, necessary for various means of transportation, even armor. I wanted to learn a bit more about the mythological history of fiber and discovered a TON.

 

I’m going to go over these mythological fiber crafters and provide links so you can read into further depth about this crazy cool……


Color and Memory

Color is such a notable part of our lives, and we often take for granted how much it triggers our memories. Like smells or music, your brain-pan will file small bits away and as whole days fade away, snippets of moments are captured, in your subconscious, till that color/tone/lighting reminds you of something from your childhood, or your teens, or that time you married….years pass, but there is, like it was just moments ago, in your minds eye.

Along with my own opinions on this based off my own experiences, as someone that is hugely effected by color, there is some science……


Busy? or Calm? or BOTH?

Busy is good! No stagnation. Object in motion stays in motion, etc. etc etc.

Calm is good! Peacefulness, mindfulness, rest and self care, etc. etc. etc.

Being able to balance the two is GREAT! (I sure don’t think I have gotten even close to mastering that yet… )

I am happily active in a few big things that end up taking up a majority of my time.

One is my day job. I am working for a local, family owned business that is full of sports fans and is focused on quality of work, not personal appearance. This allows me the freedom to be myself……
